You may remember last year when I made flavored water--- I did it all throughout the summer. it was tasty. Well I put my pitcher away during the winter... don't know why but i did. I also wounded up throwing away the infuser thing (it was just too hard to really get clean... :(
Weather has been fairly warm, here in North Texas- definitely springtime weather-- so i got out that pitcher and all kinds of fruit
-SO for my First flavored water of the season I kind of went all out.
With Mint, cucucumber, lemon, and strawberries.
Our Mint plant really had some great growth on it, and I knew I really wanted to use some of the fresh leaves. Strawberries were on sale last week so I have a few containers in my fridge, then I typically always have a cucumber on hand- ... so i went with it --
Ingredients-
lots of Mint (i used a big handful- fresh from the garden)
-1/2 a cucumber
-1/2 a lemon
- several strawberries (think I used 3)
-filtered water (or you can use tap, if you'd prefer)
Tools:
-Knife
-Cuttingboard
-pitcher
Of course- this all depends on taste preference- you may want more of something, or less of something- :)
How to:
-Start off by rinsing and washing everything thoroughly-- this stuff is going into your water, and you never know who else has touched it.
-Slice everything (Except for the mint) very thinly- as thin as you can, to really bring out the flavors of each ingredient
- for the mint, as you put it into the pitcher, just kind of press it in your hands, a little- the idea is just to kind of release the oils a little from the leaves- nothing major...
put everything in the pitcher.
it doesn't really matter what order.
Fill with the water & refrigerate (best over night, but you definitely can leave for a few hours- -- or drink immediately-- (always tastes better the next day.)
be adventurous- try other fruits and veggies!
This is so easy- and Im SURE so much more healthy than those little packets that flavor water....
