I made homemade chicken nuggets last night. I hadn't had chicken nuggets in FOREVER. So i had a few chicken breasts in the fridge, along with some bread crumbs and such.
(Sorry I dont have a picture... I didnt think about it until it was too late, and there were none left to take a picture of... if that gives you any indication of how they were...)
I know many recipes call for flour, egg, then the bread crumbs. I skipped the flour.
Total time: about 30 min.
Cooking time: 20 min.
chicken breasts- cut to be about 1 inch
1 egg beaten
bread crumbs (seasoned, or not, can add your own seasonings- i did oregano and pepper.
Preheat oven to 350.
Spray cookie sheet with oil. (Set aside, that way it's ready for when you're done dipping your chicken in everhthing.)
In one bowl I had my beaten egg, then another bowl I had the bread crumb mixture.
dip piece of chicken in egg and then cover with bread crumb mixture and then set on the cookie sheet.
Do this to all of your pieces.
put in the oven.
I cooked them for 20 min in the oven, but I did leave them in there for an extra 5 min or so after I had turned off my oven, just because some of the pieces didn't seem quite done.
For sides I did some boiled red potatoes and seasoned zucchini.
IT was a delicious meal. no leftovers after this meal! :) haha~!:)
This was a nice meal to be able to quickly pull together... all in all took about 30 min to put together. :)
It was so nice to know that this was real chicken, and not --- well whatever is ACTUALLY in frozen chicken nuggets.. :)
